How to waste your offline marketing budget!
Nett is an excellent magazine and website, it caters to Australia's many small and medium business people and help them get the most out of the internet.
There's lots of content from the print magazine on the website, plus more (as you would expect from being so net focused). There are blogs on Technology, People, Motivation, Red Tape, Marketing, Internet Trends and Work/Life Balance, and the design of the site is slick and easy to navigate.
I just received the August 2008 edition of the print magazine, Page 89 really caught my eye as there is a huge (nearly half page) ad titled "Free Website Makeover". I'm interested in seeing this as I'm going to be involved in a site makeover competition soon. The ad gives a url: www.intentiomedia.com.au/makeover so off I go to have a look ... 404 Not Found screams the page .. huh??
They must have spent a fortune to advertise this but there is nothing on the site. I then start having a look through the rest of the site & find a few broken links very quickly so I'm out of there never to return, I don't have time to waste looking at broken websites!
I look at the other even bigger ad on the page "Affordable SEO for your business" www.seotribal.com.au/offer .. Hooray! This page works, It's a nice site & I have a little read but again find a few broken links!
If I was da big boss man at either of these websites I would be kicking some ass right about now!

It's a bit scary when so called "web professionals" can't fix links or troubleshoot their own website or marketing copy. It reminds me of a CV I read recently: "Excllent Engilsh Skills" - truly horrifying!
